Kauai Snorkeling Tours

Self-Guided

Snorkeling Tours, those who enjoy snorkeling are in for a treat. Kauai’s pristine oceans are home to thousands of fish and different marine life.  Along the many crescent shaped beaches you will be able to find opportunities to swim with the many tropical fish that frequent the reefs. For those who prefer to casually participate in snorkeling the local beaches like Anini Beach, Poipu Beach and Salt Pond Park Beach provide protected beach areas that both snorkelers and the tropical fish prefer. Anini, on the east side of the island is home of the largest reef, Poipu Beach is a protected area where the tropical fish prefer as well as the Hawaiian Monk Seal and the Green Sea Turtle. The monk seal and sea turtles frequent the sand to take a nap along the beach in Poipu. Salt Pond beach is a favorite of locals, and if you are visiting be prepared to pack in what you will need for the day as services other than the bathrooms and a few covered picnic tables is sparse. Salt Pond Beach is a large protected area which right up along the sand are rarely waves of any size. Snorkelers will swim out toward the natural breakwater to view the tropical fish that decide to come in from the waves and there you can also see corals among the rocky bottom.

Guided Excursions

Those who wish to take an excursion there are many opportunities to join in on a snorkeling tour. Kauai Searider has their South Shore Snorkeling Tour which they claim a “Whole Day of Fun packed into 3 hours” where they take you on their Zodiac boats from Kukui’ula Harbor to a couple of unspoiled snorkel sites. Kauai Searider also has a Na Pali Coast Snorkeling Tour. This tour is a 4.5 hour tour. This tour starts off at the closest harbor to the Na Pali Coast (Kekaha Harbor) which provides more time in the water. Na Pali offers spectacular views and you will create memories for a lifetime!

Snorkel Bob’s not only rents snorkel equipment for those who didn’t bring their own from home but they have a couple of snorkeling excursions of their own. The Liko Kauai | Na Pali Catamaran Snorkel trip consists of a 5 hour tour aboard the 49′ powered catamaran takes you out to see Sea Caves, waterfalls, Kauai’s lush valleys from a different viewpoint, white sand beaches and Dolphin watching with a 1 hour snorkeling stop to round out the adventure. A trip out to see Napali Coats in itself is well worth the trip.
