We receive some frequent questions about our Vacation Rental Property in Kauai, how we operate and our policies when renting. We have decided to post some of them here;
A thirty percent (30%) rental payment by credit card is required when making a reservation to secure the dates, unless your arrival date is within sixty (60) days in which case the entire amount is due at the time of reservation.
For the guests only paying the initial 30% minimum, the entire remaining amount is due and will be automatically charged to their credit card sixty (60) days prior to arrival.
The minimum age of the responsible guest must be no less than 21 years of age to rent our accommodation and must be present throughout your rental period.
All notices of cancellation must be received in writing. If sent by email, notices may be sent to the email address provided during booking. In the event Guests wishes to terminate this agreement, Travel Insurance, Damage Protection and any processing or administrative fees are non-refundable. Ninety-Six percent (96%) of the base rental amount will be refunded if the cancellation is made more than 60 days prior to the arrival date of the reservation. If the cancellation is made within 60 and 30 days of the arrival date Forty-Six percent (46%) of the base rental amount will be refunded, If the cancellation is made with less than 30 days of the arrival date the base rental amount will not be refunded. There will be no refunds due to inclement weather including Hurricanes & Floods or other events beyond our control (act of God, strike, lockout, other disturbance or labor difficulty, war, act of public enemy, blockade, revolution, riot, insurrection, civil commotion, lightning, storm, flood, fire, earthquake, explosion, embargo, unavoidable accident, lack of transportation, or anything done or not done by or to a person, government or other competent authority).
Travel Protection Policies are offered at the time of booking to protect the guests vacation rental investment. It is strongly suggested Travel Insurance be obtained.
Currently we only accept four forms of payment: Master Card, Visa, American Express, & Discover / Novus. A valid credit card must be available throughout the period of rental.
a. Deposit: A Credit Card Pre-Authorization of up to $500.00 shall be posted to the Credit Card on File 1 (one) day prior to Check-in. The Authorization shall be released within 6 days of the Check-out Date provided no deductions are made due to:
i. damage to the property or furnishings;
ii. dirt or other mess requiring excessive cleaning;
iii. replacement of property or furnishings removed from property;
or
iv. any other cost incurred by Homeowner due to Guest’s stay.
Credit Cards on File: The Guest’s credit card must be on-file. In conjunction to the Rental Agreement, We retain the right to charge the credit card for any damage, breakage or additional cleaning attributed to wear and tear beyond normal use.
Smoking in The Home: Smoking in the home and on Lanai is not permitted. Hawaii state law 295, enacted November 16, 2006, and updated in 2015 prohibits smoking in all enclosed or partially enclosed spaces open to the public. This the smoking of cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, cigars, medical marijuana and all illegal substances. We are subject to this law. In the event a smoking violation occurs, either a fine of $500.00 shall be charged to the credit card on file or the security deposit shall be retained.

The Primary Renter Must be 21 Years or Older and be present throughout the rental period.
Pets are are not allowed on the premises of the Vacation Rental Property.
Yes,
Utilities are included. Power is our most expensive Utility here in Kauai. We Ask of our Guests to conserve power by not leaving on Lights or Air Conditioning Units on when departing for the day. (Leaving AC Units on while departing for the day leaving the unit unoccupied may lead to a Power Consumption Surcharge being Imposed.)
Cancellations due to Government Initiated Travel Quarantine caused by the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Cancellation Policy is to:
Since the discontinuance of both Federal and State Emergency for the Covid-19 Pandemic, all cancellations follow the Standard Cancellation Process and Policy.
*All booking transactions no-matter the resource, MyKauaiVacationRental.com, VRBO, HomeAway, Expedia, etc. are processed by a 3rd party Credit Card Processor and their fees are removed from the transaction before depositing to our account. Therefore we cannot refund money we do not receive.
Cancellations for reasons other than Government Initiated Travel Restrictions follow our standard cancellation policy.
We are following all CDC guidelines when cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting our property. We’re keeping our housekeeping staff safe, as well, with gloves and masks, and are instructing them to stay home if they are feeling ill.
To ensure they have adequate time to clean and disinfect, we will not be allowing early check-in or late check-outs for the foreseeable future.
Yes! There’s no penalty for paying early.
You can make or schedule payments at affirm.com or in the Affirm App for IOS or Android. Affirm will send you email and text reminders before payments are due.
Yes – you can return or cancel an item you bought with Affirm by initiating the return or cancellation process with the store or where you purchased the item. Cancellations on trips follow the cancellation policies of the vendor.
No – your credit score won’t be affected when you create an Affirm account or check your eligibility. If you decide to buy with Affirm, this may impact your credit score. You can find more information in Affirm’s Help Center.
Yes, you’ll need a mobile number from the U.S. or U.S. territories. This helps Affirm verify it’s really you who is creating your account and signing in.
